COLUMBIA, S.C. – December 01, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) in partnership with the National Association of REALTORS® has extended its REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) flood assistance program to December 31, 2015. The program was originally set to expire November 30th.

Since the RRF began shortly after the flooding in October, Realtor® associations and individuals have donated $487,000 with $130,000 having been distributed.

The relief is available to qualified South Carolina residents who have suffered property damage to their primary residence as a result of the severe flooding event that took place in October 2015, and covers either monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence or the cost of temporary shelter due to displacement. Relief assistance is limited to $1,000 per applicant and one grant per residence.

“As Realtors®, homeownership is our livelihood and passion. We’re thrilled that we have already been able to help distribute $130,000 in mortgage and rent relief to South Carolina’s flood victims,” said SCR 2016 President David Kent.

In order to qualify for the relief, applicants must submit the application in its entirety and provide all supplemental materials and proof of damages. Assistance is being provided on a first come, first serve basis. SCR asks that applicants wait to be notified regarding their applications.
