Annual Award Competition Honors Nation’s Premier Energy-Efficient, Environmentally-Responsible Builders & Remodelers; 2012 Application Redesigned
Upper Marlboro, MD – April 8, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The NAHB Research Center invites all builders and remodelers to enter the 2012 EnergyValue Housing Award competition. The EVHA honors home builders and remodelers who voluntarily integrate energy efficiency into the design, construction, and marketing of either new or existing homes. Over the past 16 years, the EVHA has become the gold standard in industry recognition for high-performance home builders.
The application period for the 2012 program opened April 1st (no foolin’!) and both new and returning applicants will be excited to see the redesign of this year’s application. Now both builder and remodeler applicants can download the entire application in an electronic directory that contains the application itself, a subfolder for each section of the application, and checklists for what’s needed in each section so it’s clear and easy to save and submit all the required materials. All required materials are clearly identified and suggestions are available for optional materials.
Once all sections are completed and saved in the appropriate subfolder, the entire directory should be submitted on two thumb drives or disks along with a signed copy of the disclosure statement. The changes to this year’s application process should eliminate some of the very time-consuming steps that were necessary in years past – we’ve made it more efficient, just like our EVHA winners! The new process should also be more cost-effective and “greener” overall since we’ve eliminated the need for applicants to ship large binders of materials to the Research Center, and for us in turn to ship them to out judges.
Another change in the application is that nearly all sections call for narrative descriptions of each feature rather than listing the details of the features. This change will give applicants the opportunity to convey their philosophy about energy efficiency and their approach to high performance building in greater detail.
New Homes Division and Existing Homes Division applications are available for download at: www.nahbrc.com/evha. Deadline for submission is Friday, July 29, 2011.
SAVE the DATE – The 2012 EnergyValue Housing Award event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, in Orlando, FL, just before the start of NAHB’s International Builders’ Show. Watch for details on this year’s location and ceremony, it’s something you won’t want to miss!
