NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – RealEstateRama – NHW Healthcare, Inc., the wind-down entity for New Hanover Regional Medical Center, has transferred an additional $25 million from the sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) to the New Hanover Community Endowment.

These funds come from assets retained by the wind-down entity to cover any remaining liabilities associated with matters arising prior to the sale. As these liabilities are settled, surplus funds are released to the endowment. By completing this latest transfer, New Hanover County has now directed approximately $1.36 billion to benefit the New Hanover County community in perpetuity, as outlined in the asset purchase agreement.

“The sale of NHRMC was a significant decision made by the Board of Commissioners to benefit our residents today and for generations to come,” said New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Chair Bill Rivenbark. “It is incredible to see that almost $1.4 billion has been dedicated to making New Hanover County the best possible place to live, work, and play.”
