WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 30, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has entered into an agreement with Bolster, a company recently launched to simplify the process of home remodeling by providing insurance for the successful outcome of projects. The AIA and Bolster aim to combine their strengths and expertise to the benefit of homeowners, contractors and architects operating in the remodeling industry.

Bolster helps promote AIA members by placing them in front of homeowners who are looking to remodel using a vetted and underwritten contractor. By offering Bolster to their clients, AIA architects will be better able to focus on delivering design value, with increased confidence that their work will be implemented as intended and their projects completed to quality and budget. Architects will help reduce financial risk for homeowners on their remodeling projects while offering a tailored insurance product designed to help take the guess-work out of the process.

“Our calling as architects is to help design a better world starting with well-designed homes that contribute to a family’s well-being,” said AIA CEO Robert Ivy, FAIA. “Bolster’s home remodeling insurance program is a significant innovation. Our collaboration will enable AIA member architects to help more homeowners on their remodeling projects.”

“As partners, the AIA and Bolster are combining their strengths and expertise to tackle the biggest problems looming over consumers, contractors and architects alike: the huge financial risks and inefficiencies that plague home remodeling.” said Fraser Patterson, Founder and CEO of Bolster. “AIA members will be empowered to ensure a successful outcome for each homeowner.”

At the core of Bolster’s remodeling insurance is a custom bid, performance, payment and warranty bond, which is brokered and underwritten by independent insurance partners including National Financial Partners (broker) and Capitol Insurance Companies (underwriter). Bolster’s insurance, platform and expertise, is intended to let homeowners feel like an expert is looking out for them throughout one of the largest financial commitments they’ll make in their lives.
