Washington, D.C. - August 8, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Efforts to increase access to affordable lending products got a boost recently when 19 members of the NeighborWorks network received over $16.9 million as part of grants made by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program. Combined with grants from NeighborWorks America, local governments, foundations and the private sector, these small- and medium-sized nonprofit businesses continue to lend in their local communities, and provide access to affordable loan products and services to low- and moderate-income borrowers.

Washington, D.C. - June 8, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Today NeighborWorks America announced that $67.7 million has been awarded to 37 state housing finance agencies (HFAs), 17 HUD-approved housing counseling intermediaries, and 84 community-based NeighborWorks organizations to provide counseling to families and individuals facing the threat of foreclosure. Just two months after the fifth round of National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) Program funds were appropriated, communities across our country will be able to put the funds to immediate use.

Washington, D.C. - June 1, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- NeighborWorks America, one of the nation’s largest community development corporations, today announced that Home HeadQuarters based in Syracuse, N.Y. completed more residential home rehab projects than any other NeighborWorks organization – 720 homes. In all, NeighborWorks organizations completed more than 7,600 housing rehab projects in 2010, preserving quality affordable housing across the country.

New York, NY - May 16, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Citi Foundation and NeighborWorks America today announced the launch of a collaboration to expand and strengthen financial capability programs for thousands of low- and moderate-income Americans. These programs help consumers establish positive behaviors to achieve immediate and long-term financial goals through financial education and access to appropriate financial products. As many as 65,000 people may benefit from the new $5 million, two-year demonstration project.

NeighborWorks America was ranked No. 46 in its second year on the Builder 100, with 503 closings of for-sale housing completed by its network of local NeighborWorks organizations. In addition to the overall ranking for productivity in 2010, NeighborWorks America was also named the No. 5 builder of affordable housing.
