BLM OFFERS $1,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION ABOUT PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR VANDALISM AND THEFT OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY

Carson City, Nev.  – RealEstateRama – The Bureau of Land Management is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction and/or civil prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the vandalism and theft of government property stolen from Desert Springs Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS) near Hungry Valley, NV.

On January 6, 2020, technical equipment (datalogger, battery, and a solar panel, etc.) was stolen from the BLM RAWS station near Hungry Valley, Nv. The theft was discovered on January 10, 2020, and the estimated value of the stolen items and repair to the damaged infrastructure is $11,000.

Anyone with information about person(s) who may be responsible, please contact BLM law enforcement at 775-857-3511 and leave a message.

The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In fiscal year 2018, the diverse activities authorized on BLM-managed lands generated $105 billion in economic output across the country. This economic activity supported 471,000 jobs and contributed substantial revenue to the U.S. Treasury and state governments, mostly through royalties on minerals.
