Emily Weinstein Named Director of Community Development
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – October 2, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — BRIDGE Housing is launching a new Community Development Initiative to integrate holistic community development practices into how it plans, implements and manages affordable housing.
BRIDGE, a leading nonprofit developer, owner and manager of affordable housing, will leverage its role as a real estate developer to partner with and improve neighborhood institutions and communities, focusing on the social determinants of health that affect residents’ quality of life and long-term health and success.
Emily Weinstein will lead the initiative as Director of Community Development, a newly created position. For the past five years, Ms. Weinstein has served as Director of Potrero, a large-scale, mixed-income, mixed-use public housing revitalization effort BRIDGE is undertaking in San Francisco. As part of the Potrero effort, she led the development of Trauma Informed Community Building, now a nationally recognized model for strengthening high-poverty, challenged communities and readying them for long-term, positive change. Ms. Weinstein will report to BRIDGE’s Vice President of Community Development and Programs Susan Neufeld.
“We know that housing alone is not enough,” said Cynthia A. Parker, President and CEO of BRIDGE. “This initiative integrates the facets of our work far beyond housing, so that more people and more neighborhoods have opportunities to thrive. I am excited by Emily and Susan’s leadership and by this important next step in realizing our strategic vision for community development.”
