CEDIA Brings Education to 2011 International Builders’ Show
Three courses will help attendees collaborate successfully on home technology projects
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – January 10, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) will deliver industry-leading educational sessions at the 2011 NAHB International Builders’ Show January 12–15 in Orlando. CEDIA will offer three of its most popular courses for design and build industry professionals and will exhibit in booth #W5047.Visitors to the CEDIA booth can learn about working with a professional electronic systems contractor (ESC) to execute home technology projects. CEDIA representatives will also share information about the Home Technology Alliance, of which CEDIA is a founding partner. In addition, visitors to CEDIA’s booth can enter to win tickets to the 2011 Indianapolis 500.

Solutions and Profitability: Home Technology in the Design and Build Process

This interactive panel discussion presents a solution-based and practical approach to home technology, highlighting numerous and profitable aspects of present-day and future applications. Design and build industry experts will highlight related and pertinent examples of technology challenges and their methods for capitalizing on these opportunities.
From peers and respected industry partner professionals, attendees will learn about the “value proposition” relative to home technology, solutions regarding what others have done when presented with home technology challenges, and how knowledge about home technology will increase profitability, referrals and customer satisfaction.
What Your Electrician Doesn’t Know: Working with an Electronic Systems Contractor

As with other rough-in trades (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), electronic systems should be planned for well in advance of construction and documented at the construction drawing phase of design. Participants in this course will discuss the roles, responsibilities, and functions of an electronic systems contractor (ESC), be able to identify different types of residential systems, and analyze the benefits of working with an ESC. Attendees will examine specific design considerations, such as space, framing, electrical, and ventilation requirements. This course will help attendees identify the proper ESC for the job by providing them a checklist of questions to ask and items to consider when engaging a home electronics partner early in their next design and build project.
