Civil and Human Rights Coalition Underwhelmed by Trump’s Infrastructure ‘Plan’
WASHINGTON –- (RealEstateRama) — Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on President Trump’s infrastructure plan:
“Trump’s infrastructure proposal fails to live up to his lofty campaign rhetoric. Instead of offering a solid plan that would create good jobs, directly invest in our nation’s decaying infrastructure, and target investment to the areas that need it the most, Trump’s infrastructure ‘plan’ focuses on putting public assets into private hands, creating yet another giveaway to wealthy corporations and millionaires at the expense of working families and communities.
Millionaire investors looking to profit from our neighborhoods are uninterested in giving our communities a voice in what happens there, and Trump’s agenda that includes the privatization of public assets, such as our air traffic control system, is not just unwise but should alarm us all.
We need real solutions to our nation’s jobs and infrastructure woes that will result in direct investment, the creation of good jobs with strong labor standards, and that value community involvement in making decisions on what is built in their neighborhoods. The Trump plans fails to do any of these things, and Congress should reject it.”
