Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) today announced the committee’s schedule for the week of May 9:
Thursday, May 12 at 10:00 A.M. – The Housing and Insurance Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “The Future of Housing in America: A Comparison of the United Kingdom and United States Models for Affordable Housing.” This hearing is part of a series of hearings undertaken by the subcommittee to assess affordable and rental housing programs 50 years after the creation of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
At this hearing, subcommittee members and witnesses will compare the affordable housing models of the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Both countries faced significant administrative costs in providing affordable housing and experienced the need to implement innovative management practices. Reviewing how the United Kingdom addressed these needs can provide insight to American policymakers.
The hearing will take place in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Additional information, including a list of witnesses and live video of the proceedings, will be available on the Committee’s website.
