To Showcase Housing Affordability, Economic Sustainability
WHO:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 14, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Communications Action Network (CAN), more than 160 local businesses and organizations working to promote the social and economic benefits of housing affordability, and developers and managers and housing officials representing 17 completed and occupied communities.
WHAT:
Open houses at various locations throughout suburban Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., CAN’s Parade of Homes will feature multifamily properties and affordable homeownership residences as part of the coalition’s ongoing mission to illustrate the necessity of housing affordability for the health of vitality of DC’s regional economy. Residents will participate at many communities and area elected officials have been invited to attend.
WHAT ELSE:
Proclamations of support are being issued by the Arlington County Board chair and the mayor of Alexandria, with more expected.

The Communications Action Network (CAN) is supported by a grant from the United Way of the National Capital Area, and convened by BB&T Community Development Bank and three area housing organizations – the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development, the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers and the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance.
