ConsensusDocs Coalition Announces 2015 Business and Marketing Advisory Council Officers
WASHINGTON – December 2, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — ConsensusDocs announces the 2015 Business and Marketing Advisory Council (BMAC) leadership. E. Colette Nelson, Chief Advocacy Office for the American Subcontractors Association (ASA), was elected the 2015 BMAC Chair. Joanne S. Brooks, Esq., Vice President and Counsel for The Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), was elected the 2015 BMAC Secretary.
Ms. Nelson is responsible for managing all facets of ASA’s government and industry advocacy efforts. During her 30 years with ASA, Ms. Nelson has been actively involved in most of the major issues impacting the construction industry. She has served as the lead industry representative on a variety of key issues for subcontractors. Ms. Nelson has published numerous articles and manuals, including several for the Foundation of the American Subcontractors Association (FASA). She also is in demand as a public speaker and facilitator on association management and construction issues. Ms. Nelson serves on the Board of Directors of the Small Business Legislative Council. She has also served as chair of SBLC, vice chair of the American Society of Association Executives, director of the American Council for Construction Education, and director of the American Institute of Constructors Constructor Certification Commission. Ms. Nelson has a BBA in labor relations and an MBA in business-government relations from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Brooks graduated from American University with a BS in Urban Affairs and Administration of Justice in 1982 and the University of Maryland School of Law in 1985. She is admitted to the bar in Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. From 1985 to 2010, she was employed by Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland, which became Zurich Insurance Company, initially as a Claims Attorney in the Salvage Division to Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Zurich Surety. She joined Hanover Insurance Company as Chief Risk Officer in 2010, and joined SFAA in 2013. Ms. Brooks has co-authored several publications for the American Bar Association and has given numerous presentations for AGC, DBIA, AMAC, COMTO, US DOT, ACCA and many other trade associations and panels.
