WASHINGTON, D.C. - December 18, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- When fed into medium-voltage power grids, large loads of renewable or other decentralized energies – which are generated when winds are strong or the sun is very bright – can produce short circuits that endanger the power supply. Superconducting network technologies can ensure reliable grid operation even under these conditions. Siemens is installing a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of the so-called resistive type at Stadtwerke Augsburg, the municipal utility in Augsburg, Germany, that is designed to solve precisely this problem. Development work and installation in the utility's medium-voltage power grid are to be completed by the end of 2015
Philadelphia Improves on Collecting Delinquent Property Taxes
WASHINGTON, D.C. - December 18, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- The analysis covers 2013, the latest year for which complete comparable data were available. For that year, Philadelphia reported that 6 percent of property owners did not pay their tax bills in the year the money was due. That figure was down from 6.8 percent in 2012 and 9 percent in 2011. It represents the strongest tax collection performance since 2008, according to city data.
JULIÁN CASTRO STATEMENT ON HUD FY2015 BUDGET
WASHINGTON, D.C. - December 18, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro today issued the following statement in response to President Obama signing the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015. HUD's $45 billion budget allows the Department to support the individuals and organizations that we currently serve, but also limits HUD's ability to help some new families reach the middle class or pursue their dream of homeownership. As the President has said, the legislation is a compromise and no one got everything they wanted. But, it is a step towards proving that a divided government can work without governing by crisis or threatening an economic recovery that's growing stronger - which the President believes is a hopeful sign for next year.
