Voorhees announced today that he and the National Retail Partners-West (NRP-West), in conjunction with San Diego-based Senior Vice President Reg Kobzi, completed the sale of Riverdale Shopping Center, a neighborhood retail center in the submarket of Mission Gorge of San Diego, anchored by CVS/pharmacy, along with a synergistic mix of food, service and retail co-tenancy. The sale price was $10.1 million.

A longtime fugitive was named today in a nine-count indictment that alleges he participated in a $9 million loan fraud scheme that targeted Wells Fargo Bank. Napoleon Olarte, 40, who is believed to be in Venezuela after fleeing the United States approximately eight years ago, was indicted late this afternoon by a federal grand jury.

The Subcommittee on Water, Power and Oceans held a legislative hearing on H.R. 4419, the “Bureau of Reclamation and Bureau of Indian Affairs Water Project Streamlining Act.” Introduced by Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), the bill seeks to streamline and expedite water infrastructure development across the West by requiring future studies to adhere to reasonable timelines and other accountability measures.

The Tax Bill Would Trigger Automatic Cuts to Key Housing Programs

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the Republican tax bill would trigger the “Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act” of 2010. This Act was designed to limit increases to the national debt by forcing automatic cuts to critical programs, including those that help low income families meet their basic needs. If enacted, the Republican tax bill would trigger automatic cuts to the national Housing Trust Fund (HTF), a program that makes rental homes affordable for people with the greatest and most acute housing needs.

Construction employment increased in 243 out of 358 metro areas between October 2016 and October 2017, declined in 59 and stagnated in 56, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released today by the Associated General Contractors of America. EPA backs Utah’s plan to improve water quality with $15.6 million in water infrastructure...

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Utah approximately $15.6 million for clean water and drinking water projects in communities across the state.  EPA is providing $7 million for the state’s clean water revolving loan fund and $8.6 million for its drinking water revolving loan fund to support key infrastructure projects, including new and upgraded wastewater and drinking water plants.  These projects will ensure clean drinking and surface water, better serve residents, increase efficiency and reduce pollution.
