SACRAMENTO, Calif. – RealEstateRama – FEMA has announced a 12-month extension of the temporary housing program in Butte County through May 12, 2021 for Camp Fire survivors – the initial 18-month program was set to conclude May 12, 2020.
Since the 2018 Camp Fire, FEMA has provided temporary housing for 684 displaced Butte County families. In partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and local partners, nearly 300 families have found a permanent housing solution.
FEMA continues to work closely with Cal OES, local officials, and volunteers to help the remaining 386 families find a permanent housing solution. Disaster case managers are also working one-on-one with these families to help connect them to available resources and assist in executing their personalized disaster recovery plan.
In accordance with FEMA housing program rules and regulations, the remaining residents in FEMA temporary housing units will receive notification of the Direct Housing Program extension and their individual case will be discussed with a FEMA housing advisor.
To date, FEMA has provided $84.1 million in grants to Camp Fire survivors for rent, home repairs, and personal property loss.
