Fusion 1560 Named 2012 Community of the Year in the NAHB Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 10, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Fusion 1560, designed by Humphreys & Partners Architects and CSJM Architects, was named Multifamily Community of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The winning community, which also won Best Mid-Rise Apartment, was selected by the judges from the winners of the developer awards.

“Fusion 1560 embodies what today’s renter is looking for in apartment living with its offering of the urban experience of less commute time and immediate access to a variety of activities in the area,” said W. Dean Henry, CEO of Legacy Partners Residential in Foster City, Calif., and chairman of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board. “The apartments showcase contemporary features like stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors and quartz countertops and unique amenities and services such as sponsored cooking demonstrations and a full-service spa that stand out to renters.”

The award, sponsored by AT&T Connected Communities, is a top honor in NAHB’s prestigious Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program, which annually recognizes the community that not only demonstrates excellence in innovative design and construction, but also shows the sort of attention to detail that signals a superior development.

Adjacent to downtown St. Petersburg’s Tropicana Field, Fusion 1560 was developed as one of the first true urban high-density mixed-use communities in the city. Spanning nearly two city blocks and just under three and a half acres, the building identifies closely with the eclectic and funky nature of the downtown district with its colorful façade and unique mix of building materials. The units feature brick-wall accents and frosted glass doors, with unexpected extras including bike hangers, wine lockers and a rooftop deck overlooking the downtown.

A panel of multifamily development and design experts also selected winners in 27 other categories from excellence in building and marketing to individual and corporate achievement. Winners from all categories were recognized in a virtual awards ceremony last week.
