GLOBAL GREEN USA’s 10th ANNUAL PRE-OSCAR® PARTY FEB. 20, 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 21, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — WHAT: Kick-off this year’s Oscar celebrations with Global Green USA’s 10th Annual Pre-Oscar® Party. Hollywood’s elite activists and green-minded celebrities will enjoy a night of eco-friendly entertainment, including a VIP cocktail reception, and Patron dinner & program – including a special musical performance by Warner Bros. recording artist LP – followed by KCRW’s DJ Garth Trinidad, and culminating with a headline performance by seven-time Grammy Award winner Willie Nelson and his sons Lukas and Micah. DJ Shy (KIIS FM), will also be spinning in the Volt Lounge throughout celebrity arrivals. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Global Green USA’s work to build greener, more resilient homes, schools, and communities in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
This year’s featured automotive sponsor is the Chevy Volt electric vehicle, which will be chauffeuring many of the attendees to the green carpet. The new Chevy Spark EV, which was just unveiled at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, will also be on display. H&M, the world’s second largest fashion retailer, focusing on affordable fashion and sustainability, will join the event as the featured retail sponsor. “Conscious” is the name for all of the work the company does to offer a more sustainable fashion future. The company has recently been certified as the largest user of organic cotton in the world for the second year in a row. Other sponsors include Pureology, CoolHaus, Cade Estate Winery, Ehlers Estate, 360 Vodka, BlueAvocado and Turtle Island, the private island resort in Fiji and film location of the famous “Blue Lagoon” movie. Turtle Island is offering a seven day stay auction item in one of its luxurious villas (this world-renowned resort is powered largely by solar energy).
For the Patron Dinner, Chef Akasha Richmond of Akasha Restaurant in Culver City has custom-designed a farm-to-table menu from L.A.’s best farmer’s markets. Collaborating on decor are landscape designer Durie Design and floral designer Celadon & Celery. Celadon and Celery’s string gardens are a symbol of the strength of New Yorkers, who always find balance in the face of adversity. Proceeds from the event will help fund Global Green USA’s work to help New York rebuild green following Hurricane Sandy. All of the plants from the event will be donated to Silver Lake Farms.
