The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit has issued a nationwide stay (link is external) of the new federal regulation redefining “waters of the U.S.” (WOTUS) for the purposes of the Clean Water Act. Creating cloud.gov has had a tremendous effect for 18F by allowing the infrastructure team to provide spot support and consultancy when needed, then use what was learned to increase cloud.gov’s capabilities. Meanwhile, the development teams can incorporate advanced operational capabilities without focusing a big portion of their efforts on them. This results in a feedback loop where the infrastructure team improves cloud.gov based on user-centered need, one of the main tenets of 18F’s mission.
