Governor to appear at 2013 Better Home Awards event

Williston, Vermont – November 5, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont (HBRANV), is pleased to announce our Better Homes Award (BHA) Event happening this year on November 7, 2013 at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center Leahy Center for Lake Champlain from 7 PM – 9 PM and this will be open to the public to attend this year. We are honored to announce that Governor Peter Shumlin will be joining us at the event and will say a few words.

The BHA is a long tradition of the associations where we celebrate and recognize our members’ fine craftsmanship, excellence in housing design, architecture, interior design, landscaping and remodeling.

We are expecting two hundred attendees this year, including members of the Vermont Senate, a representative from the Community Economic Development Office of Burlington, and a representative from Senator Bernie Sanders Office, who will help us celebrate this great event.

This program has been in place for thirty-six years and we felt that it was time for change, so we worked with an amazing company called mRelevance to create an online program where our members could enter into this year’s award program and where we invited the people to be involved. This program allowed us a platform to engage people to have an opportunity to Vote for the entries that had chosen to be a part of our People’s Choice Award, for the overall best project. We are so excited to say that we had an amazing response and are already looking forward to expanding our 2014 awards. This program allowed HBRANV members, to enter into one of our 25 BHA categories. Each entry is anonymous, and was judged based on the nine judging criteria that have been outlined for the entrants and judges. The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Southern Vermont members were gracious enough to be our judges for all the entries except for the Energy Star® Efficiency Award which Efficiency Vermont presents and the People’s Choice Award which the people voted for.

Come join us and celebrate all the hard work HBRANV members have been doing. The building industry affects every business on one level or another and it is back! NAHB is forecasting 924,000 total housing starts in 2013, up 18 percent from 783,000 units last year. Single-family production is expected to rise 17 percent this year to 629,000 units, jump an additional 31 percent next year to 826,000 and surpass the 1 million mark in 2015. This night is to recognize the fine craftsmanship, excellence in housing design, architecture, interior design, landscaping and remodeling and to recognize the winners of the 36th BHA and to also pay tribute to this years’ builder of the year, associate of the year, remodeler of the year and lifetime achievement winners.
