HUD PROVIDES ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR NEARLY 900 LOCAL HOMELESS ROGRAMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

WASHINGTON - June 19, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan today announced a second round of grants totaling $140 million to nearly 900 local homeless assistance programs across the country (see attached chart). Provided through HUD’s Continuum of Care Program,  the funding announced today will ensure additional permanent and transitional housing renewal projects are able to continue operating in the coming year, providing critically needed housing and support services to those persons and families experiencing homelessness.

VA Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team Program (H-PACT) Update

WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 17, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- The VA Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team Program, H-PACT, was established in January 2012 to provide a coordinated “medical home” specifically tailored to the needs of homeless veterans. Interdisciplinary teams of doctors, nurses, and case managers respond to the ongoing and evolving medical, mental health, and substance abuse needs of homeless veterans entering the VA system. The program serves as a conduit for treatment engagement and involvement in VA Homeless Program and clinical services and supports through a “no wrong door” policy. It is designed to provide the care necessary to keep veterans in housing and prevent a return to homelessness

Federal Properties Available for Homeless Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 17, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- In accordance with the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, HUD published a Notice in the June 13, 2014, Federal Register identifying Federal buildings and other real property HUD has reviewed for suitability for use to assist the homeless. The properties were reviewed using information provided to HUD by Federal landholding agencies or by GSA regarding their inventories of excess or surplus property. The list includes buildings and properties in Maryland, Michigan, New York, West Virginia and Wisconsin

Veterans Housing Program Hits the Ground Running Thanks to Passage of Proposition 41

Sacramento - June 16, 2014 - (RealEstateRama) -- On any given night roughly 16,000 veterans in California have no place to call home; they sleep in parks, under bridges, in their cars, in emergency shelters or on a friend’s couch.
