WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 15, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Joanne Theunissen, CGP, has been elected 2011 Chair of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Sales and Marketing Council. The announcement was made Jan. 11 at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
Theunissen is owner/designer for Howling Hammer Builders, Inc. in Mount Pleasant, Mich., and is also an active member of the HBA of Central Michigan and the Michigan Association of Home Builders.
“I’m both honored and excited by the opportunity to lead the National Sales and Marketing Council this year,” Theunissen said. “While the recovery within the building industry has begun, I recognize there are still challenges to overcome. However, I firmly believe the time has come to shift our focus from simply surviving to investing in ourselves, our businesses and this Council.”
A longtime NAHB volunteer leader, Theunissen serves as a state representative for the NAHB Executive Board, and is also a member of NAHB Remodelers and the Small Volume Builders Committee. She is past chair of the 50+ Council and Professional Women in Building Council. Theunissen has also made her mark on NAHB Green, becoming one of the first Certified Green Professional in the central Michigan area, as well as previously chairing NAHB’s National Green Building Conference.
