Keurig Dr Pepper and KaBOOM! award Cape Cod affordable housing development $15,000 playground grant

-

WASHINGTON – (RealEstateRama) — Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) and the national non-profit KaBOOM! have awarded a Let’s Play Community Construction Grant to build a new playground at Cromwell Court Apartments a 124-unit family affordable housing development in downtown Hyannis, MA owned by Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH). The playground build is made possible by Let’s Play, an initiative of KDP that provides funding, equipment and play spaces to help families and children make active play a daily priority. Through Let’s Play, KDP and its partners are committed to helping create safe and inspiring “PLAYces” for Cromwell Court kids to learn, explore, grow and just be kids.

“The grant will be used to replace an older playground with a brand new play structure designed to suit the needs of the 100+ children who call the community home,” said Julianna Stuart, Director of Community Impact at POAH Communities, POAH’s property management affiliate. “The new playground will enhance the existing community’s amenities by inspiring the children at Cromwell Court to play imaginatively. Research shows that play also has an important role in supporting families. A survey conducted by ForestersTM showed that 77% of parents felt that spending more time at a playground increases a family’s sense of well-being.”

KDP has committed $38.5 million to Let’s Play through 2019 that will benefit organizations that serve youth across the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Through Let’s Play, KDP collaborates with two non-profit organizations, KaBOOM! and Good Sports, to build and improve playgrounds in underserved communities and provide grants for sports equipment. In this way, KDP is doing its part to help eliminate the play deficit by making active play possible for more kids.
