Alexandria, Va., Sept. 25, 2024 – RealEstateRama – The sessions are coming together, and all the behind-the-scenes preparations are underway for the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) Biannual Top Issues in Affordable Housing fall conference. The multiday conference, Wednesday, Oct. 23-Friday, Oct. 25, will feature panels concentrating on the issues facing affordable housing practitioners and educational topics for navigating today’s world led by experts in their fields.

Register to attend the meeting today.

The fall meeting occurs at the Fairmont Washington, 2401 M St. NW, Washington, D.C. Hotel room reservations are separate from the NAHMA meeting registration. The NAHMA room block at the Fairmont is full. There are hotels within walking distance of the Fairmont; however, NAHMA does not have a relationship with these hotels, nor does the association know the hotels’ availability or costs. If you need assistance in locating local hotels, please email Brenda Moser. Two significant events occur in the District simultaneously with the NAHMA annual meeting. As a result, attendees are advised to make their travel and lodging plans as soon as possible. Due to the other major events, the availability of alternate hotel rooms and short-term rentals is expected to be limited throughout the city.

The annual NAHMA meeting features several educational panels geared explicitly toward the affordable housing industry. Invited guests include representatives from the Housing and Urban Development and U.S. Agriculture departments. Julia R. Gordon, assistant secretary for Housing and Federal Housing commissioner of the HUD, will provide the keynote address. Panels featuring government officials and other special guests are not open to the media and may not be recorded.

The meeting registration includes admission to all sessions and open committee meetings, including the Vanguard Awards luncheon and panel discussion. Online registration closes Oct. 16; on-site registration will be available.

The preliminary agenda is available on the Meetings webpage and conference app. Other downloadable materials will be added to the webpage and app as they become available. The NAHMA meeting is made possible by Platinum sponsor RealPage.

Additionally, the NAHMA Educational Foundation will celebrate its 30th anniversary and raise funds for its scholarship program during its annual Inspire Gala, on Oct. 24, at The Hamilton Live, 600 14th St. NW. A separate ticket from the NAHMA October meeting registration is required to attend the fundraiser. The foundation event features live entertainment from The Onyx Band, a sitdown dinner, and live and silent auctions consisting of the Drug-Free Kids Calendar posters, trips,
jewelry, and other items. The foundation will also celebrate the past Inspiration Award recipients as part of the anniversary celebration.
