WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 7, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) today announced the winners of the 2011 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards. NAHB’s Pillars Awards, considered the most prestigious in the industry, honor excellence in multifamily housing development, design, marketing and management, and showcase future trends in the industry.
“With this group of winners, we see the effort of developers and builders who have persevered through difficult economic conditions to create something wonderful,” said Charles R. Brindell, Jr., chair of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board, and CEO of Mill Creek Residential Trust, LLC. “With demand rising for multifamily homes, these apartments and condos are models for the communities being built to meet that need.”
Among the winners are the Presidio Landmark in San Francisco—a former Marine hospital that was converted into rental apartments; the Markham Apartments in Cupertino, Calif.—an apartment complex that upgraded and merged two aging communities; and Columbia Parc at Bayou District in New Orleans—an affordable rental community that took top honors as the competition’s Community of the Year.
NAHB recognized winners for excellence and superior leadership in 20 building and development categories and nine marketing and individual achievement categories, including Multifamily Development Firm of the Year, won by DSF Group in Waltham, Mass., and Property Management Company of the Year, won by Prometheus Real Estate Group in San Mateo, Calif.
