2010 Pillars Award Winners Showcase Success
WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 8, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced the year’s best in multifamily housing today. Among the winners of the 2010 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry were a luxury high-rise in Dallas surrounded by shopping, dining and entertainment; an urban mixed-use condo loft community in L.A. combining living and working spaces for the telecommuting professional; and an adaptive reuse project that transformed a 13-story 1960’s concrete superstructure into a sustainable luxury apartment tower overlooking the Washington, D.C., skyline.
“This year’s winners showcase the multifamily industry at its best, and demonstrate that even in the midst of an economic stranglehold on housing, talented builders, developers and other multifamily professionals can continue to produce great communities,” said Charles R. Brindell, Jr., chair of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board, and CEO of Mill Creek Residential Trust, LLC. “The 2010 Pillars winners created stellar communities – luxury high-rises, sustainable garden apartments, affordable mixed-use developments and more – that exemplify quality, class and style.”
NAHB’s Pillars Awards, considered the most prestigious in the industry, honor excellence in multifamily housing development, design, marketing and management, and showcase future trends in the industry.
The Community of the Year award – chosen from the winners in each category – went to The Heights at Park Lane, a stunning multi-level development in Dallas that used three distinct building styles, two high-rises and one midrise building, to create a variety of living options within in the same community. Urban and modern, with open floor plans and floating walls, the units feature hardwood or stained concrete floors, and glass sliding barn doors allowing residents to enjoy the outside from indoors. The Heights at Park Lane is the only residential community in Dallas with 3 million square feet of shopping, entertainment and professional offices, all within walking distance and adjacent to the DART rail.
NAHB recognized winners for excellence and superior leadership in 21 categories, including Multifamily Development Firm of the Year, won by Michaels Development, Marlton, N.J., and Property Management Company of the Year, won by Freeman Webb, Inc., Nashville, Tenn.
