NAHB Launches New E-Magazine Dedicated to Home and Community Design

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 23, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) launched the premier issue of the e-magazine Best in American Living–Redefining Home and Community today at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The quarterly publication showcases the value and importance of good design through the connection between homes and community.

“Best in American Living is the industry’s first publication to connect the house and land through design, exploring what is both inside and outside the front door,” said Skip Howes, 2012 chair of the NAHB Design Committee and president of Scott Homes Ltd. in Woodland Park, Colo. “Our customers no longer see a distinction between what’s inside and outside – they want the whole package.”

The magazine also focuses on the latest consumer insights, marketing trends and the policy and regulatory framework that sets the stage for what can be built. It includes regular features that redefine home and community such as:

•Portfolio – Exceptional design projects.
•The Drawing Board – Mini-case studies resulting from floor plan reviews by expert designers and architects.
•Marketplace – A look at trends and tastemakers.
•Going Green – Practical applications and sneak peeks at the future of sustainability.
•Tools & Techniques – The newest, most innovative resources.
•Policy Watch – Upcoming legislation, code issues and other regulatory news keep readers one step ahead.
•Proofs & Truths – Recent economic, policy and environmental research: sound science and solid evidence for policy and regulatory discussions affecting the building industry.
•It’s in the Details – Architects and designers provide drawings and photos of how to correctly detail and construct common design elements.

“As the industry inches out of the downturn, we have to focus on moving forward and adapt with the changing environment,” said Jess Hall, 2012 chair of the NAHB Land Development Committee and chairman of Hall Quality Homes in Palmer, Alaska. “We want to play a role in providing valuable information to our peers to help them better their businesses, and this publication provides the perfect vehicle for that.”
