WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 55+ Housing Industry Council is now accepting applications for the 2017 Best of 55+ Housing Awards, which honor excellence in building, design, marketing and lifestyle of housing for boomers. A panel of industry professionals will judge entries in 45 award categories, including Best 55+ Detached Home, Best 55+ Affordable Rental Community, Best 55+ Recognition of Sustainable Features and Best 55+ Lifestyle Program, among others.
Winning entries from the awards for communities in the 55+ Projects (Built) categories are automatically nominated for the Best 55+ Community of the Year Award—the NAHB Best of 55+ Housing Awards’ top honor. This award recognizes the community that demonstrates excellence in innovative design and construction, as well as the attention to detail that signals a superior community.
“This is the 25th year that NAHB’s 55+ Housing Industry Council will honor a variety of housing built to meet the needs of the 55+ market,” said Karen Schroeder, chair of the 55+ Housing Industry Council award’s committee and vice president of Mayberry Homes LLC in Lansing, Mich. “Whether it is a neighborhood filled with activity-related amenities, a streetscape of homes specifically designed to look fabulous with low maintenance, or a community offering assistance and nursing care, the awards committee is searching for the best selection to make it into the winners circle. With more than 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, the 55+ Housing Industry Council seeks to encourage builders to serve this growing market, and to show the public how the right home or apartment can make a positive difference in people’s lives.”
All builders, developers, marketers and designers of 55+ housing are invited to enter this prestigious awards competition. The winners will be announced on Jan. 10, 2017, during the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
