Housing leader to help guide transition in top spot at NHC
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 10, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Housing Conference announced this week that Jeanne Engel will serve as its interim president and CEO. Engel’s appointment follows the Sept. 23 announcement of former CEO Maureen Friar’s resignation.
Engel has served in senior level positions in government at the local, state and federal levels; in the private sector and, more recently, as a consultant, assisting clients throughout the U.S. and internationally. Over the course of her career, Engel has worked to further affordable housing in roles at the city of Trenton, N.J.; at the Rhode Island Housing Finance Agency and at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Following Hurricane Katrina she worked in New Orleans as residential sector lead for the William J. Clinton Foundation.
“We look forward to her leadership and support over the coming months, during which NHC will launch a national search for a permanent president and CEO,” NHC Chair Dan Nissenbaum said of Engel.
“Jeanne will oversee NHC’s strong management team, led by Lynn Ross, Ethan Handelman and Cynthia Adcock, and will work closely with Jeff Lubell and the Center for Housing Policy to drive NHC’s ambitious agenda,” Nissenbaum continued. “NHC, with its partners and members, is well positioned to play a leading role in strengthening the nation’s housing finance system, promoting a stronger, balanced housing policy for low- and moderate-income families and promoting solutions for sustainable communities.”
