National Housing Endowment Awards $60,000 Grant for NAHB Student Chapters Members to Travel to 2014 International Builders’ Show
WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 11, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Hundreds of NAHB Student Chapters members from across the U.S. will have the opportunity to experience the 2014 International Builders’ Show (IBS) Feb. 4-6 in Las Vegas thanks to $60,000 in travel scholarships from the National Housing Endowment.
The 2014 International Builders’ Show Scholarship helps NAHB Student Chapters members from high schools, career and technical schools, colleges and universities learn outside the classroom and prepare for a career in the home building industry. Many scholarship recipients participate in the NAHB Student Chapters Residential Construction Management Competition (RCMC) at IBS. The RCMC gives students the opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to a real construction company by completing a management project/proposal they defend in front of a panel of builder judges during the show.
The IBS Scholarship has helped more than 3,000 students attend IBS since its inception in 2007. The fund assisted 400 students from NAHB Student Chapters at 43 schools in 2013. The significant contributions of the Endowment’s trustees, Peter Herder of Tucson, Ariz., and Dale and Bea Stuard of Newport Beach, Calif., ensure the scholarships continue in 2014.

www.NAHB.org/IBSscholarship. NAHB Student Chapters provides students the opportunity to work first-hand with experience builders in the construction industry and other related fields. More than 3,000 faculty and student members are part of the 120 NAHB Student Chapters across the U.S. HBI administers the NAHB Student Chapters program for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
