EVent Advances State’s Commitment to Transition its Light Duty Fleet to 100 Percent Zero Emission Vehicles by 2035

WASHINGTON, D.C. – RealEstateRama – WHAT: The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) are hosting the annual New York State Electric Vehicle Fleet EVent from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Brought back to the Plaza in 2023, the EVent provides government fleet managers, sustainability coordinators, elected officials, and members of the public an opportunity to learn how New York State is working to meet Governor Hochul’s mandate to transition all state agency light-duty fleet vehicles to zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) by 2035 and all medium- and heavy-duty fleet vehicles by 2040.

This year’s EVent will showcase a range of charging equipment and vehicles on display on the Plaza’s concourse level and outdoors on the Plaza. Featured vehicles will include those from state agency fleets, the Capital Region Transportation Authority (CDTA), National Grid, and New York State auto dealers. Representatives from dealerships and manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions about the latest makes and models.

Those at the EVent will also be able to attend informational panels on topics such as the present and future of the EV charging ecosystem, EV fleet conversion practices and tools, and purchasing EVs.

Information will also be available for state agency representatives on leveraging existing contracts and programs to purchase EVs and install EV charging infrastructure, obtaining applicable rebates, and the effective use of vehicle data-collection technology for EV fleet conversion planning.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, with opening remarks to legislators and state agency leaders at 9 a.m. outside by The Egg, weather permitting. Rain location: Empire State Plaza Convention Center Meeting Room 6.
