NAHB Announces Finalists for Best of IBS Awards
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced the finalists for its sixth annual Best of IBS Awards for the 2018 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Fla. Over 300 product entries in nine categories were judged by 27 industry and media representatives. Finalists were evaluated on criteria such as innovation, functionality and design. Winners in each category, as well as a Best Overall winner, will be named at the conclusion of the show on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.
NAHB Honors Building Systems Industry Leaders
The National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Building Systems Councils (BSC) and the Log and Timber Homes Council bestowed 28 awards to systems-built industry manufacturers and home builders during its annual Building Systems Housing Summit held in Hershey, Pa. The 2018 BSC Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design were awarded to BSC members who demonstrated high achievement in home construction and marketing.
New Home Sales Rate Reaches 10-Year High in October
Sales of newly built, single-family homes in October rose 6.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 685,000 units from a downwardly revised September reading, according to newly released data by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau. This is the highest sales pace since October 2007. Year-to-date, new home sales are 8.9 percent above their level over the same period last year
Multifamily Developer Confidence Weakens in Third Quarter
The Multifamily Production Index (MPI), released today by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), dropped 10 points to 46 in the third quarter of 2017. This is the lowest reading since the second quarter of 2011.
Housing Starts Up Sharply, Near Post-Recession High in October
Nationwide housing starts rose 13.7 percent in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.29 million units after a slight upward revision to the September reading, according to newly released data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Commerce Department. This is the highest housing production reading since October 2016, when total starts hit a post-recession high of 1.33 million.

Builder Confidence Climbs to 8-Month High in November
Builder confidence in the market for newly-built single-family homes rose two points to a level of 70 in November on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI). This was the highest report since March, and the second highest on record since July 2005.
