HUD ANNOUNCES WHOLESALE REVIEW OF MANUFACTURED HOUSING RULES
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced a top-to-bottom review of its manufactured housing rules as part of a broader effort to identify regulations that may be ineffective, overly burdensome, or excessively costly given the critical need for affordable housing. For the next 30 days, HUD is accepting public comments to identify existing or planned manufactured housing regulatory actions to assess their actual and potential compliance costs and whether those costs are justified against the backdrop of the nation's shortage of affordable housing.
HUD AWARDS $37 MILLION TO FIGHT HOUSING DISCRIMINATION
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today it is awarding $37 million to fight housing discrimination under its Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP). HUD AND CENSUS BUREAU REPORT NEW RESIDENTIAL SALES IN NOVEMBER 2017
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau jointly announced the following new residential sales statistics for November 2017. Sales of new single-family houses in November 2017 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 733,000. This is 17.5 percent (±10.4 percent) above the revised October rate of 624,000 and is 26.6 percent (±16.6 percent) above the November 2016 estimate of 579,000.
HUD AWARDS $37 MILLION TO RENEW SUPPORT TO 32 LOCAL HIV-AIDS HOUSING PROGRAMS
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced $37 million to assist more than 4,000 low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families annually over a three-year period. The funding announced today is offered through HUD's Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS Program (HOPWA) and will renew HUD's support of 32 local programs. These grants provide a combination of housing assistance and supportive services for this vulnerable population.
