Los Angeles, CA – October 19, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Newsweek, a leading U.S. weekly newsmagazine, has ranked CBRE Group, Inc. the greenest real estate company in its 2011 Green Rankings. The list measures the environmental performance of the 500 largest U.S.-based publicly traded companies. The ranking is based on each company’s environmental impact, management and disclosure efforts.
CBRE has been the highest ranked real estate company in each of the three years that Newsweek has published its rankings.

Newsweek collaborated with research partners Trucost and Sustainalytics to compile the rankings and referenced data provided by the Carbon Disclosure Project, which collects global greenhouse gas data on over 3,000 companies worldwide. CBRE has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project since 2007.
Earlier this year, CBRE achieved its goal of carbon neutrality in its own operations for 2010. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has named CBRE an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for the past four years, including recognition for Sustained Excellence. The USGBC has awarded CB Richard Ellis its Leadership Award for Organizational Excellence and the industry group, CoreNet, recognized CBRE with a special commendation for Sustainable Leadership and Design – Development.
