NYC’S Best Supers, Doormen, Security Guards and Cleaners to Be Honored at Building Service Workers Awards
Special Posthumous Award to Security Officer Idrissa Camara, Killed in the Line of Duty on August 21
New York – November 5, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The men and women who clean, care for and maintain the buildings of New York will be honored tomorrow, November 5, at the 2015 Building Service Workers Awards. 32BJ SEIU and Straus News organize the annual awards where family, co-workers, employers, tenants and elected officials can celebrate the dedication of building service workers who keep our city running.
Hosted by NY1 reporter Vivian Lee, this year’s awards will feature special recognition of Idrissa Camara, a security officer killed in the line of duty on August 21.

WHERE: 32BJ offices, 25 W. 18th Street, 5th Floor Auditorium, Manhattan
WHY: This annual recognition highlights the dedication year in and year out of workers who keep our offices, schools, and public buildings safe, clean, and efficient. Winners were selected from nominations from co-workers, employers, building residents, family and friends.
Categories include: Doorman and Doorwoman of the year, Longevity Award for length of service, and the Green Award for eco-conscious employees.
This year’s Life Saver Award will be presented posthumously to Officer Idrissa Camara, who was fatally shot at his security post on August 21. His family will accept the award on his behalf. Starting next year, the Security Officer Award for Public or City Buildings will be named The Idrissa Camara Award in his memory.
