Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation Continues to Offer Access to Fannie Mae’s Healthy Housing Rewards Program with Related Affordable Partnership

National -

HOUSTON – RealEstateRama – Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation (Rainbow), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service-enriched housing, announced their partnership with New York-based Related Affordable to support three Texas multifamily communities. Residents of Oaks on Clark, 333 Holly, and The Pines will receive technology-based and in-person programs designed to advance their financial and personal goals.

All three locations, totaling 564 units, now have access to Fannie Mae’s Healthy Housing Rewards Enhanced Resident Services due to the partnership with Rainbow. The Healthy Housing Rewards program provides financial incentives for borrowers who incorporate health-promoting design features and practices or resident services in their newly constructed or rehabilitated multifamily affordable housing properties.

“High-quality resident service provision at affordable multifamily properties not only provides positive health and social benefits to residents, it is also good business for property owners. We are excited to see Rainbow Housing and Related partner to provide high-quality services and support for residents,” said Rachel Cluett, manager of the Healthy Housing Rewards program.

Rainbow’s job readiness training offers education and training for residents looking to advance their professional careers. Unemployment claims have risen dramatically in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with little recovery since lockdown mandates began. Residents living in The Pines property, based in The Woodlands, Texas, will have programs covering workplace readiness skills, continuing education, financial literacy, and personal development beginning July 2021. An onsite Rainbow Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) will support the programming. The courses are open to all residents living in the 152-unit complex on a voluntary basis, free-of-charge.

Residents will also receive Rainbow’s Web-Based Resident Applied Programming (WRAP), live and interactive webinars. Rainbow’s uniquely designed app, now available for iPhone and Android, holds the online calendar of programs and services, workshops and class schedules, and connectivity to a live RSC.

333 Holly, a 332-unit complex also in The Woodlands, Texas, will begin Rainbow’s services in December 2021. The programs will include the WRAP initiative, access to the video library of workshops, and onsite training with an RSC. Workshops include continuing education, home health and safety, crisis intervention, and personal development.

Housing stabilization support and healthy food access are some of the many programs which will be presented to individuals living in Oaks on Clark, an 80-unit Section 8 property in San Antonio, Texas. The services will begin after construction is complete in April 2021. In addition, Rainbow will begin building coalitions to supplement programs with expertise from local business leaders, charitable organizations, medical providers, and law enforcement resources for this community.

Rainbow now serves 115 communities and 15,878 units across the United States. The organization is the only third-party service provider to be a Certified Organization for Resident Engagement & Services (CORES). The certification is one of the requirements needed for property owners to qualify for Fannie Mae Healthy Housing Rewards. Partnering with Rainbow also helps owners by reducing turnover costs, improving occupancy, and stabilizing the tenant population.

“We are proud to be the first third-party service provider to receive the CORES certification and partner with Related to preserve a large number of affordable units in Texas. By offering Enhanced Resident Services™, Rainbow will help residents become self-sufficient while creating stronger communities,” said Flynann Janisse, Executive Director of Rainbow.
