Anaheim, IL – November 14, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — PeggyAnn McConnochie, a Realtor® from Juneau, Alaska, has received the National Association of Realtors® 2011 Distinguished Service Award. Out of 1.1 million Realtors®, no more than two are recognized with this award each year. The recipients were announced in Anaheim, Calif. during NAR’s annual REALTORS® Conference & Expo.
NAR established the DSA in 1979 to honor Realtors® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and are recognized as leaders in their local communities. The award is considered the highest honor an NAR member can receive; recipients must be active at the local, state and national association levels, but must not have served as NAR president. NAR President Ron Phipps presented the award to McConnochie.
“I am honored to present PeggyAnn with the Distinguished Service Award,” said Phipps, broker-president of Phipps Realty in Warwick, R.I. “She is not only an outstanding leader in the real estate business, but also is someone who has always put others before herself. Her commitment to educating and training fellow real estate practitioners, as well as her extensive involvement in the industry, is truly commendable.”
McConnochie has been a Realtor® for 29 years and is currently owner/broker of ACH Consulting (Alaska Coastal Homes, Inc.). She specializes in real estate education and training, mediation, business planning and personal coaching in real estate. McConnochie has also taught and authored education courses throughout Alaska and the U.S., in addition to facilitating seminars abroad.
“I am extremely honored to accept the Distinguished Service Award,” said Carroll. “I have always believed in the principle of service above self, which is a value I believe all Realtors® strive to live by. I’m so proud to be a part of a profession and organization that helps build strong communities and works toward improving people’s quality of life through the right to own and use real property.”
McConnochie has served in a number of positions within the Realtor® community. In 1995 she served as an NAR Regional Vice President for Region 12. In 2002 and 2007 McConnochie was appointed NAR Vice President & Liaison to Committees. Throughout the years McConnochie served as chair for a number of NAR committees and boards including Land Use, Property Rights & the Environment, various presidential advisory groups and work groups, and the Housing Opportunity Advisory Board.
McConnochie was president of the Southeast Board of Realtors® in 1985 and 1986 after serving in all elected and volunteer positions at the local level. In 1991 McConnochie served as president of the Alaska Association of Realtors®. Before that, McConnochie served on the state level as legislative chair, secretary and director at large, as well as a member of the state board during her presidency with the Southeast Board of Realtors®.
In 1996 McConnochie became owner/broker of ACH Consulting. The real estate consulting company specializes in helping clients prepare market analyses and highest and best-use studies on various properties, as well as providing real estate education and training. McConnochie dedicates her time to facilitating seminars and courses on a wide variety of topics for real estate professionals including technology, mediation, lobbying, ethics, customer service, risk management and team building. As a certified e-PRO trainer and a certified Seller Representation Specialist teacher, McConnochie has taught and monitored courses with local and state Realtor® associations across the country.
McConnochie has also completed broker and agent/licensee education on behalf of the International Real Property Foundation in the countries of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Vietnam. She has provided seminars in Manila and the Philippines for the Asian International Real Estate Expo & Conference. McConnochie is a two-time “Realtor® of the Year” recipient for both the Alaska Association of Realtors® and the Southeast Board of Realtors®.
In addition to her work in the real estate industry, McConnochie and her husband, John, own Cycle Alaska, a tour company that offers cycling tours and rentals, as well as a downtown walking tour of Juneau. Cycle Alaska also has a retail bicycle shop serving all of Southeast Alaska.
