WASHINGTON, DC – May 2, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The following is a statement by National Association of Realtors® President Gary Thomas:
“The National Association of Realtors® commends the Administration on its nomination of Representative Melvin Watt for the position of Federal Housing Finance Agency Director.
“The extended conservatorship of government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is one of the most pressing issues facing the housing sector. NAR appreciates the Administration’s recognition that a permanent director is required for the regulatory organization overseeing the operations of these two important entities.
“We look forward to continuing our work with FHFA and Representative Watt upon his confirmation.”
The National Association of Realtors®, “The Voice for Real Estate,” is America’s largest trade association, representing 1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
