Cardin, Mikulski, Cummings, Ruppersberger, Sarbanes Announce $10 Million In Federal Funds For Major Transportation...

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski together with Representatives Elijah E. Cummings, C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger and John P. Sarbanes (all D-Md.) today announced $10,000,000 in federal funding for the Southeast Baltimore Port Industry Freight Corridor Plan, making critical transportation infrastructure improvements to the Broening Highway Corridor that will create jobs and enhance the economic security of the Port of Baltimore and surrounding business community. The project is expected to create more than 100 construction jobs and support the over 40,000 jobs related to commerce at the Port of Baltimore

Delaney: Baseline-Level House Highway Bill Not Enough to Rebuild America or Compete Globally

The House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure began markup on a six-year Highway Bill that essentially maintains current funding levels. The American Society of Civil Engineers has given America’s infrastructure a D+ grade and have stated that we need an additional $3.6 trillion in infrastructure investment by 2020.

Montgomery County Receives National Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Award

Montgomery County was one of six recipients of the new national municipal stormwater and green infrastructure awards at the 88th Annual Water Environment Federation (WEF) Technical Exhibition and Conference held September 28 in Chicago. Montgomery County received a gold certificate in the Phase I program management category for its multifaceted and effective Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) program and was recognized as a national leader in stormwater management.

Delaney to Transportation Chairman: New Highway Bill Must Increase Infrastructure Investment

Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) wrote to House Transportation & Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster Thursday, urging him to increase baseline funding levels in the next highway bill. The Transportation & Infrastructure Committee is expected to markup a new highway bill next week. In his letter, Delaney wrote, “Instead of continuing our glide path to a third-world infrastructure, our next highway bill should reverse course and start our infrastructure comeback. A meaningful increase in our infrastructure investment will create millions of jobs and help our businesses stay competitive in the global economy.”
