Quigley, Durbin Announce Housing Grants for the Fifth District
U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, announced over $14 million in vital urban housing development grants to Illinois’ Fifth District and the greater Cook County area. The grants will provide funding for shelters for homeless individuals and expand the supply of affordable housing options for low-income individuals
Titus Announces $12.8 Million in Grants for Supportive Services for Homeless Veterans
Dina Titus, Representative of Nevada’s First Congressional District and a Member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, announced $12.8 million in renewal funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs Grant and Per Diem (GPD) program to provide transitional housing with supportive services for homeless veterans. U.S. Vets, located in Nevada’s First Congressional District, has been awarded $853,000 to provide an average of 25 beds per day for homeless veterans under the “Transition in Place” (TIP) housing model.
THOMPSON ANNOUNCES HOUSING GRANT FOR GREATER NAPA VALLEY FAIR HOUSING CENTER
U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-5) today announced a $279,467 Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP) grant for Greater Napa Valley Fair Housing Center (GNVFHC). This grant will fund the agency's fair housing enforcement, education and outreach work. This includes the implementation of fair housing investigations, trainings and presentations, and related activities that promote GNVFHC's mission to eliminate housing discrimination and ensure equal housing opportunity for all people.
Innovative Flood Insurance Program Legislation Introduced In Congress
Two U.S. Representatives from Florida, Patrick E. Murphy and Carlos Curbelo, introduced a bill that would allow states to approve private insurers to compete with the government-dominated flood insurance market. They believe competition will result in better policies and pricing. In addition, they feel innovations involved in that process will ultimately ensure all flood insurance programs are better, including the National Flood Insurance Program
