SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT SIGNED FOR PANOCHE VALLEY SOLAR PROJECT

The Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society (collectively the “Environmental Groups”), the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), and Panoche Valley Solar LLC (a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison Development, Inc.), have entered into a settlement agreement concerning the size and location of a solar project currently under development in California’s Panoche Valley.

Solar Industry Urges Nevada Governor to Sign Bill Supporting Solar Jobs and Homeowners in...

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) issued a statement on the Nevada Legislature’s passing of a bill that re-opens the residential solar market in the state, which had been all but frozen since a 2015 regulatory decision. The bill (AB 405) would reinstate the Net Energy Metering mechanism, but with a discounted rate for customer-generated power that is exported to the grid.

Department of Energy Resources Extends Solar Program

The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) announced today plans to extend the Commonwealth’s successful Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC 2) program further into 2017 along with a new proposal for a long-term replacement of the program. Since its inception, the SREC 2 program has led Massachusetts to more than 1,600 megawatts of solar development and supported thousands of local jobs, economic investments and a healthier environment for Bay State families and businesses.

Agreement Protects San Diego’s Vanishing Burrowing Owls, Increases Solar Energy

An agreement announced today between conservation and environmental-justice groups and private developers will protect imperiled burrowing owls, increase renewable solar energy and conserve wildlife habitat to offset impacts from the redevelopment of San Diego’s Brown Field Municipal Airport. The airport — located near the Mexico border in Otay Mesa — will be redeveloped with new commercial and aviation facilities and include on-site solar energy to reduce energy consumption.
